Reports To: Chamber President/Board of Directors

 

Summary: The Executive Director is a key representative and advocate for businesses and employers who are members of the Van Alstyne Chamber of Commerce. As the only employee of the Chamber this position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, along with the following duties.

 

Duties include but not limited to the following:

  • 24 hours per week + additional hours as needed 
  • Follows the regulations as outlined by the Federal Government, the IRS and the Texas Secretary of State. Additional information found here https://www.sos.state.tx.us/corp/nonprofitfaqs.shtml#NPCAdministrative and organizational support of the chamber
  • Executive Director is primary point-person for events throughout the year to promote business and unite our community, which will include the promotion of events via social media and other media outlets.
  • Answer, manage incoming calls and emails
  • Attend all chamber meetings and events
  • Send relevant information to local paper for publication
  • Administer and manage the chambers website, software & social media
  • All Accounting duties; AR, AP, Banking & Reconciliation
  • Provide information and materials to inform the Board, elected officials, partner agencies, and membership.
  • Communicating and partnering with city entities to coordinate events
  • Prepare documents for monthly meetings 
  • The Executive Director will assist the Board, committees, and members in interpretation of Chamber By-Laws, as established by the Board, in relation to any given question or program. He/she will assist the President of the Board of Directors in preparation of statements of Chamber position on public issues
  • Be available on-site for setup through cleanup at all events
  • Must use personal vehicle to attend and support chamber events
  • Collecting promotional items from members for new resident Welcome Bags
  • Preparing Welcome Bags and supplying to City admin for disbursement
Requirements:  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Possess general knowledge of business practices, operations, and needs

  • Long-range planning skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, committees, members, governmental units, civic groups, and the general public

  • Proficiency in the use of Internet, Email, Social Media, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), CC-Assist and Quickbooks

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Able to work independently, take initiative and see things through to completion

  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

  • Strong organization, communication, and logistical skills.

  • Ability to manage and plan events

  • A person who presents a high degree of Integrity, Trust and Honesty
